Welcome
A History Rooted in WestonWeston Lodge No. 10, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, has been a part of the Weston community since the early 1800s, making it one of the oldest Masonic lodges in West Virginia. Chartered while the area was still part of Virginia, the lodge predates West Virginia statehood and has remained active for more than two centuries.
From Rented Halls to a Permanent Home
In its earliest years, Weston Lodge No. 10 met in rented halls and upper floors of downtown buildings, as was common for Masonic lodges of the time. As Weston grew through the mid-1800s, the lodge grew with it, adapting to different meeting locations while maintaining its traditions and continuity.
Following the creation of the State of West Virginia in 1863, the lodge transferred to the newly formed Grand Lodge of West Virginia, continuing its work without interruption.
Establishing the Weston Masonic Temple
By the late 1800s, increasing membership and activity made clear the need for a permanent Masonic home. That vision became reality in 1916–1917 with the construction of the Weston Masonic Temple at 346 Main Avenue.
Designed by architect Albert Breternitz in the Classical Revival style, the temple was dedicated shortly thereafter and has served as the lodge’s home for more than a century.
A Center for Fellowship and Community
Throughout the 20th century, the Weston Masonic Temple served not only as a place for Masonic meetings, but also as a center for community gatherings, charitable events, and social functions, reinforcing the lodge’s close ties to the city of Weston.
Honoring the Past, Serving the Present
In 2017–2018, Weston Lodge No. 10 marked the 100th anniversary of the Masonic Temple, celebrating a century in its permanent home and more than two hundred years of Masonic tradition in Weston.
Today, Weston Lodge No. 10 remains an active and living institution, continuing to meet at the historic temple on Main Avenue, honoring its past while building for the future.
